Renowned actor and L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador, Thuso Mbedu, is gearing up to bring her unique perspective to the judging panel of the much-anticipated Miss South Africa 2023 pageant. Scheduled for Sunday, August 13th, the event will unfold within the grandeur of the SunBet Arena, Sun International’s flagship venue situated at Time Square in Pretoria. Mbedu’s role as a judge is poised to infuse the competition with a fresh dynamic, placing a strong emphasis on fostering individuality and confidence among the contestants.

Mbedu, widely recognized for her portrayal in “The Woman King,” was bestowed with the honor of being L’Oréal Paris’ Sub-Saharan ambassador back in May. As a testament to the growing partnership between Thuso Mbedu and L’Oréal Paris, the renowned brand assumed the mantle of the official sponsor for makeup, skin, and haircare for this year’s Miss South Africa pageant. Ayanda MacKay, the skin and hair marketing manager at L’Oréal Paris, conveyed the brand’s enthusiasm regarding Mbedu’s engagement as a judge, underscoring their unwavering commitment to empowering women and reshaping conventional beauty standards.

Stepping into the limelight once again is Bonang Matheba, a distinguished television personality and an astute businesswoman. She is all set to take on the mantle of hosting duties for the Miss South Africa pageant, a role she has adeptly fulfilled in the past. Enhancing the significance of this role, Matheba’s House of BNG Cap Classique serves as the official sponsor for the event, further solidifying her deep involvement and personal connection with the celebration. Notably, Matheba had also assumed a judging position on the reality competition show “Crown Chasers,” an experience that granted her unique insights into the journey of the aspiring Miss SA contenders.

Matheba’s history with the Miss SA pageant is marked by memorable moments, including being the host during pivotal times such as Rolene Strauss’ triumph and Zozibini Tunzi’s title victory – a precursor to her later Miss Universe conquest. Reflecting on the immense significance of the event in South Africa’s television landscape, Matheba eagerly awaits this year’s pageant, fueled by her own remarkable journey from a judge’s role to the esteemed position of hosting and sponsoring.

The grand culmination of Miss South Africa 2023 is destined to unfold at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria, on the 13th of August. This event, rich in significance, is poised to be a dazzling affair, showcasing not only stunning attire but also captivating performances. With Matheba poised at the forefront, she promises an exceptional production that is bound to leave a lasting impact. Furthermore, the decision to partner with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as the broadcasting medium resonates deeply with Matheba’s vision for inclusivity and accessibility.

As anticipation mounts for the upcoming Miss South Africa pageant, the convergence of Thuso Mbedu’s role as a judge and Bonang Matheba’s multifaceted involvement as a host and sponsor sets the stage for a truly captivating and unforgettable event. This celebration, taking place during Women’s Month, is poised not only to captivate audiences but also to embody the essence of beauty and empowerment.
