Award-winning actor Wiseman Mncube expressed his honor in taking on the role of Kwaito legend Mandoza in the upcoming biopic on BET Africa’s (DStv 129). The highly-anticipated biopic, titled “Nkalakatha: The Life of Mandoza,” is set to premiere on Wednesday, 16 August, at 21:00.

Sharing a teaser of the biopic, Mncube conveyed the immense weight he felt in portraying an icon like Mandoza, saying, “The weight of portraying an icon was heavy on my shoulders.” He also shared, “I felt a deep responsibility to honor his memory and pay homage to his legacy, and I am honored to have been chosen for the role.”
Mandoza, whose real name was Mduduzi Tshabalala, passed away in September 2016 at the age of 38 after battling cancer.
Lorraine Moropa, in her social media post, beautifully encapsulated Mandoza’s enduring impact, stating, “Legends Never Die, They Multiply! Mandoza left a legacy that continued to have ripples of impact across generations. This story was worth telling.”

The biopic’s cast includes The Queen actor Lorraine Moropa as Mandoza’s widow, Mpho, as well as other talented individuals such as Lillian Dube, Dawn Thandeka King, Mzambiya, Khotso Phosa, Lindo Sithole, Phineas Bullets, and Fanele Zulu, who make up the supporting cast.
