Established in 1919, Douwe Egberts boasts a rich heritage of exceptional quality coffee. The brand, with its headquarters and first distillery opening in Utrecht, Netherlands, quickly gained recognition for its commitment to excellence. Douwe Egberts entered the South African market around 2001, bringing this rich heritage to local coffee lovers. Their dedication to quality extends beyond the cup, as evidenced by their recent introduction of the convenient Pure Gold 95g jar, perfectly sized for on-the-go coffee enjoyment. This commitment is further highlighted by their recent partnership with the National Film & Television Awards (NFTA) as an official sponsor for the 2024 ceremony.
This collaboration underscores Douwe Egberts’ dedication to recognizing and supporting South Africa’s thriving film and television industry. Douwe Egberts secured the prestigious naming rights for two key award categories: “Best TV Drama Series 2024” and “Outstanding Performance 2024.” Hayley Van Niekerk, Marketing Manager at Douwe Egberts SA, expressed the company’s enthusiasm: “We are delighted to sponsor this year’s National Film & TV Awards. We firmly believe in the power of South African film and television, and these awards provide a fantastic platform to acknowledge the incredible talent and dedication of our country’s artists and producers.”
The National Film & Television Awards SA is a highly anticipated annual event organized by the esteemed National Film Academy. Renowned for producing prestigious film and television award ceremonies worldwide, the Academy boasts a 25-year legacy. Past NFTA SA winners include comedian Celeste Ntuli, actors Abdul Khoza, Zikhona Sodlaka, Candice Modiselle, and the legendary Connie Ferguson, alongside TV presenter Zari Hassan.
“This sponsorship holds particular significance for us,” Van Niekerk adds, “as it aligns with our ongoing support for South African talent in various 2024 projects, including a campaign featuring four local artists and their designs. We have a wealth of exceptional local performers and artists, and Douwe Egberts SA is proud to champion their achievements.”
