Truda Foods: Finding Your Flavour in the Everyday

In a market where consumer choice is increasingly shaped by personality, mood and occasion, Truda Foods has built its brands around a simple idea: food should be enjoyable, accessible and made to fit into everyday life.

There is something inherently personal about flavour. One person reaches for something sweet, another wants spice, while someone else will always choose cheese. The choice may seem small, but it is part of the way people express preference — and sometimes personality.

It is an idea that sits naturally at the heart of Stylos, one of the brands within South African food manufacturer Truda Foods. Its invitation to consumers is direct: “Spice It Up with Your Individual Flavour!” With a range that includes Sweet Chilli, Buffalo Wings, Cheese, Mexican Sweet Chilli, Mexican BBQ, Mexican Roast Chicken, Sweet BBQ and Tangy Tomato, Stylos has built its proposition around variety and individual taste.

That emphasis on choice is part of the wider Truda Foods story.

A South African food manufacturer, Truda Foods produces a range of maize snacks, pretzels, porridge, soya mince and beans, with a portfolio of brands designed for different everyday occasions. The company describes its philosophy as adding “value and fun” to the people who come into contact with its products, while offering a variety of brands and flavours for different tastes.

It is a positioning that places the company firmly in the everyday rather than the occasional. Food does not need to be reserved for a special event to become part of a memorable moment. A snack shared with friends, something picked up for a journey or a familiar favourite enjoyed at home can all become part of the rhythm of daily life.

Stylos, in particular, brings that philosophy to life through flavour.

Its tortilla range includes Sweet Chilli and Cheese, among others, while its broader snack range gives consumers a choice of distinctly different flavour profiles. The brand’s Sweet Chilli tortilla chips, for example, are available through independent wholesalers nationwide as well as selected Checkers and SPAR stores.

That accessibility matters in a consumer environment where brands increasingly compete not only on product, but on relevance. Consumers want to recognise themselves in the brands they choose. For Stylos, that means giving people room to choose the flavour that suits them.

And that is where food and fashion unexpectedly meet.

Fashion is often described as a form of self-expression because what people wear can communicate personality, identity and mood. Food can work in much the same way. The choices people make around flavour, texture and the products they enjoy are also personal.

It was therefore fitting for Stylos to have a presence at the 2nd annual South Africa Fashion Awards, held on 3 October 2026 at Hotel Sky, Sandton. The awards brought together designers, models, stylists, photographers, beauty innovators, retailers, executives, brands and campaigns across 21 publicly voted categories.

Stylos participated as a goodiebag contributing sponsor, placing the brand directly into the guest experience and giving attendees an opportunity to take the product beyond the event itself.

Rather than positioning food as something separate from fashion, the partnership reflected a broader reality of contemporary consumer culture: lifestyle categories increasingly overlap. Beauty meets fashion. Fashion meets entertainment. Food becomes part of social occasions. And brands become part of the experiences people share.

For Truda Foods, that intersection is particularly relevant because its portfolio is built around moments of enjoyment and connection. From snacks to everyday food products, the company’s proposition is rooted in creating products that people can incorporate naturally into their lives.

The Stylos presence at the South Africa Fashion Awards consequently offered a simple but meaningful extension of that philosophy. A fashion awards evening may celebrate the people creating the country’s next generation of style, but the experience around an event is shaped by many smaller details — what people eat, what they drink, what they take home, what they remember and what they share afterwards.

Those moments matter to brands.

They create opportunities for products to move from being something seen on a shelf to something experienced in real life.

For Stylos, the proposition remains refreshingly uncomplicated: there is no single flavour that defines everyone. There is simply the flavour that speaks to you.

And perhaps that is the strongest connection between the brand and the world of fashion. Both ultimately give people the freedom to make a choice that feels like their own.

Find your flavour. Enjoy the moment. And make it yours.
